Lemuel Robinson Wright, a farmer by trade, was the son of Joseph Yard Wright (1788-1850) and Tabitha Evans (1799-1890). He married around 1865, Elizabeth "Eliza" H. Concannon (1840-1909), the daughter of James B. Concannon (1805-1883) and Sarah Morgan (1808-1867). Their children were:

- Joseph C. Wright (1866-?)
- Martha F. Wright (1869-?)
- Almeda "Meda" (Wright) Stone (1875-1955)

By 1870 the family had migrated westward into Kansas. During the second half of that decade, they continued westward to California, first settling in Indian Valley, Colusa County, and finally in the Santa Clara and Monterey Counties.
