Amelia Wendtland came to the US from Germany. She is living in Oelwein, IA at the time of her marriage to Edward Michaelis in 1894. They have 4 sons together, 3 of whom live to maturity, but none of whom marry. Amelia (or Emelie) dies in 1920 at age 50.

Mrs. Ed Michaels (sic)
Mrs. Ed Michaels (sic) who has resided east of town for a number of years passed away Sunday morning, Mch 7th. She has been in very poor health for a number of years but took to her bed only a few days before her death. She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind loving wife and mother her husband and three sons, Herman, Fred and Henry. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. McCullough at the Union church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with burial in the Spangler cemetery, by the side of her eldest son who died years ago. The sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing husband and sons.
