Dies at Age 76;
Ex-City Resident

James 0. Bowen, 79, Terre
Haute, Ind., formerly of Madison, WI
died Saturday in a Terre Haute hospital.
He was the father of James, Robert,
Richard Bowen, all of Madison and John of
San Francisco.

The elder Bowen was born at
Kittyton, Tenn. He was first married
to Sophie Anderson and later married
to the former Edith Dorfmeyer.
He was a veteran of World War I.

He came to Madison shortly
after the first World War, and
worked for some years at the
Mendota State Soldiers' Hospial.
He left Madison about 1948,
and worked for a time at the
Veterans Administration Hospital at
Indianapolis, Ind. He had lived at
Terre Haute since 1960.

Surviving, besides his 2nd wife,
and his four sons by Sophie Anderson:
16 grand-children, and
two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held
today at 1 p.m. in the Callahan
Funeral Home, Terre Haute.
Burial was also at Terre Haute.
