Mary Ann Ackerman was born the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Lemerich) Ackerman on August 29, 1898 near Reynolds, ND where she attended school.
On July 30, 1917, she was united in marriage to Fred C. Schumacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds where she was a lifelong member. Fred preceded her in death on January 14, 1981.
She lived in Reynolds until moving to St. Anne's Guest Home, Grand Forks, at the age of 95. She lived there 14 years until moving to Valley Eldercare Center at the age of 109.
Mary believed in doing everything in moderation. She often said, "Just do your best." She would remember the years gone by and the work her hands had done; helping with the harvest, cooking, pulling weeds, holding the reins of horses, canning vegetables and praying the rosary of her Catholic faith.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Lucille Rohman, Sunnyside, WA and her son, Donald (Rose), Grand Forks, ND; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Luella (Ray) LeClerc, Grand Forks, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Joe) Linneman and her son, Lewis; sisters, Catherine Adams, Hattie Adams, Rose Colee, Tillie Ackerman and Ann Berthold; brothers, Julius, Fred, George, Harry, Joe and John.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Gregory J. Norman - Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the liturgy at the church in Reynolds on Tuesday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND.
