Douglas Edward Ailts was born August 5, 1953 at Wagner, S.D. to George and Donna (Morrow) Ailts. He died January 11, 1994 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, IA, after a long, hard fought battle with diabetes. Doug had attained the age of 40 years, five months and 6 days.
Doug graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1971 and was also graduate of the Medical Institute of Minneapolis. He worked a short time in Viborg, S.D. as a lab technician before going to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, IA. Doug was employed there for 20 years and had attained the goal of Head of the Department.
Doug was a member of Pheasants Forever and NRA. He was a gun collector and will be remembered for his love of hunting and his enjoyment of the outdoors.
Thankful for having shared his life are his son, George David Ailts; two step-sons: Allen and Jay; four brothers: David and Family, Dennis and family, Dwain and family, Devon; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Diane) Rolston and family; grandmother, Anna Ailts; and many relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, grandfather, and parental grandmother.

MASS OF THE CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, January 14, 1994, 10:30 a.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wagner, S.D., Father Paul Offerman, celebrant. CASKET BEARERS: Dave Ailts, Dennis Ailts, Dwain Ailts, Devon Ailts, Richard Rolston, and Ernest Richenbaugh. Interment: Z.C.B.J. Cemetery, Rural Wagner, South Dakota.
