DEATH CALLS HOME MRS. JANE CHERRY -- Mother of 13 children, 40 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jane Cherry, 80 years and seven months old, for over half a century a resident of North Versailles township, died at 6:15 o'clock last night at the home of her son-in-law, Charles Witherspoon, 300 Grandview avenue. Her husband and seven children and six children by a former marriage, survive. She was a highly respected woman, a member of the Second Presbyterian church of this city and of a charitable disposition.
Mrs. Cherry was born in England and reared in Scotland. She came to this country 63 years ago and lived most of her long life in North Versailles township. She was twice married, her first husband being Thomas Russell, from which union there were six children, William A. Russell, East McKeesport; David Russell, Duquesne; Mrs. Jacob Smith, McKeesport; Mrs. Z.T. McMunn, Brinton; Mrs. Isaiah McSeveny, Washington; Mrs. William Mackey, North Versailles township, all of whom survive. Her second marriage, to Thomas Cherry, resulted in the birth of seven children, all of whom survive, as follows; Alexander L. Cherry and John G. Cherry, East McKeesport; Mrs. Jacob Hess, Blooming Valley; Mrs. Charles Witherspoon, Mrs. W.J. McCaw, McKeesport; Mrs. Theodore F. Fogel, East McKeesport. Forty grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Cherry had a host of friends she was well liked by all.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Witherspoon home. Interment will be made at Grandview cemetery.
