Delbert Dean Winnard, son of Robert M. and Elsie I. (Hunt) Winnard, was born July 3, 1945 in El Dorado, KS. He passed away Saturday evening, December 18, 2010 in the Robert J. Dole V.A. Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 65.
Delbert attended the Riverview Elementary School, and Pleasant Valley Junior High in Wichita. Delbert later received his GED. He enlisted into the United States Air Force August 3, 1962, and served until his honorable discharge December 4, 1962.
On February 23, 1967, Delbert was united in marriage with Linda Cook in Wichita, KS, and this union was blessed with two daughters, Tami L. and Connie J.
The family made their home in California where Delbert worked as a roofer and home remodeler until moving to Texas where he continued working for his brother, Stan Winnard with MTS in Irving.
He moved to Milton, Kansas and has made his home there since that time. In 1995, Delbert and Carol Alexander met and began a loving relationship.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steven Winnard, one grandson, James Brown; and one nephew Joe Evans.
He will be missed by his wife: Carol Sue Alexander- Winnard; daughters: Tammy L. Courtois also of Milton, Connie J. Winnard of Irvine, Kentucky; one brother, Stan Winnard of Irving, TX; two sisters, twin sister, Debra Guenther and her husband, Gene of Wichita, KS and Roberta Joyce Evans of Augusta, KS;twenty-six grandchildren; Ten great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, Shawn Duwayne Winnard and his wife Jennifer, Stanton Dominick Winnard and Dylan Mathew Winnard and cousins; and friends.
