Kansas Chief, We. 23 Aug. 1928: Whetstine. Anson Dunham Whetstine was born in Iowa, October 24, 1853 and died at the home of his son, Bert Whetstine, seven miles northwest of Troy Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock, August 20, 1928, aged 74 years, 9 months and 26 days. Mr. Whetstine came to Kansas when 15 years old. In 1872 he was married to Miss Sarah Graves, who passed away in 1917. With the exception of a few years in their early married life during which they were in Washington County, they always lived in this county. Of seven children, one died in infancy and those who survive are Bert whetstine, Troy; Sam Whetstine, St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Minnie Bringham, Eagle Butte, South Dakota; Mrs. Nettie Noonan, St. Joseph; Mrs. Ada Thomas, Horton and Mrs. Etta Simpson, Troy; twenty-two grandchildren 1 great grandchild. the deceased was a member of the Christian church. He had been in failing health about a year, although not bedfast until a short time before his death. He came to Troy two weeks ago and voted at the primary election. Funeral services were held from the Oak Grove school house, yesterday morning, Rev. Y.S. Beans, preaching the sermon. Burial was in the Fanning Cemetery.
