Mr. Oscar Watson passed from this life Friday, August 26, 2005, in Texas City. Born November 28, 1912, in Walker County, Texas, Mr. Watson had been a resident of Dickinson for four months, previously of Nacogdoches. He had been a pipe fitter for Dow Chemical Company in Freeport for over 28 years and a member of the Pipe Fitters Local No. 390 for over 50 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Nacogdoches where he had served as a deacon for 33 years. He also enjoyed gardening, working and especially his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Seymor and Mary Steve Watson; seven brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ruth Watson of Dickinson; son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Neta Watson of Dickinson; grandchildren, Chris Watson, Regina Phillips and Charnell Hollinger; great-grandchildren, Dustin Phillips, Travis Watson, Jackson Hollinger, Kayla Phillips, Kelsey Watson and Carsyn Hollinger; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005, at First Assembly of God Church in Nacogdoches, Texas with the Reverend Dennis Land officiating. Interment will follow at Simpson Campground Cemetery in Woden, Texas. Visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Casketbearers will be Hulen Gilmore, Lon Mathews, Ralph McShan, Carl Partin, Dustin Phillips and Travis Watson. Hayes Funeral Home, Hitchcock.
