Isabel Bronson Busbee was born 1880 in Raleigh, NC, the 6th of 7 known surviving children (2 boys/5 girls) born to Charles Manly Busbee, CSA and his (1st) wife Lydia Lillie Lamb Littlejohn. Her mother died in 1887, and her father married (2nd) in 1891 to Florence Elinor Cooper, by whom 3 more children (1 boy/2 girls) were born, including Gen. Charles Manly Busbee (1893-1970), Florence C. Busbee (1898-1985), and Susannah Steele Busbee (b. 1895) who married Capt. Charles M. Jones.

Isabel never married, but had a career as a landscape architect, which was quite an accomplishment for lady of her era. She traveled to Europe, where she drew inspiration, and later was secretary to the President of the NC College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, and later opened a small landscape and garden practice in Raleigh. She had a brief association with Elizabeth Lawrence (plantswoman, jouralist, and garden righter), who gardens The Elizabeth Lawrence Garden, still survives today in Raleigh.

Isabel was the last surviving child of her parents, and died in Raleigh at age 86.

All of her siblings are buried here in Oakwood, except her brother -- James "Jacques" Littlejohn Busbee (May 20, 1869 - May 21, 1947).
