Maxine M. Alexander of Crown died April 2, 2001, at home. Born Oct. 10, 1926, in Helen Furnace, she was the daughter of Harry R. McKinsey and Doris McKinsey. She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Alexander.

She attended public schools in Miola and Clarion. She managed her husband's law firm from its beginning until he became president judge of the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas in November 1988. She then worked in the administrative office of the court until her husband retired in December 1998.

She greatly enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid jogger and especially liked raising and training her English Setters, hunting ruffed grouse and fly fishing for trout.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sandy Kifer of Clarion; a son, Larry L. Kifer and his wife, Rhonda, of Clarion; three stepsons, Charles H. Alexander and his wife, Marta, of Clarion, Stephen G. Alexander and his wife, Nancy, of Oxford, Ohio, and James B. Alexander and his wife, Trudy, of Clarion; and 16 grandchildren.

Mrs. Alexander also was survived by four sisters, four brothers and their spouses: Dorothy Raymond of New Ulm, Texas, and her husband, Donald; Sue Johnston of Batavia, N.Y.; Mae Read of Knoxdale and her husband, Harvey; Naomi Clouse of Burcan, Texas, and her husband, Walter "Ray;" Harry "Dick" McKinsey of Great Falls, Mont.; Delancey McKinsey of Sulpher, La.; Ansel McKinsey of Mineral Wells, Texas, and his wife Vickie; and Norman L. McKinsey of Spring, Texas, and his wife, Carol; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Alexander of Grayling, Mich.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her brother, Thomas E. McKinsey, killed in World War II, and her sister, Marietta Hall.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. There will be no services.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Trout Unlimited, the Ruffed Grouse Society or to the American Cancer Societ
