Mary Vogelsang left Germany to visit her sister in 1862. She fell in love with Kansas and the young bachelor, Henry Wetzig. Mary Wetzig never regretted coming to Kansas. She was a true pioneer who learned to cope in the new land, helping her husband make a home filled with love and laughter for their large family.
Mary & Henry had 8 children, all where born in Winkler: Bertha Schwyn, Clara Sweany, Fannie Sump / Thowe, Ernest, Hannah Droll, Henry, Herman, and Pauline Terrass.
