HOULKA – Eddie Lee Betts, 63, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1947, to Levirgie Betts and Christine Williams Betts. He was a member of Center Hill M.B. Church. He worked in the furniture industry. He could sew and do just about anything.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at Center Hill M.B. Church in Houlka with Rev. Colyer Phillips and Rev. George Wright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Hill Betts of Houlka; one daughter, Annette (Michael) Ezell of Okolona; one son, Tommy (Naomi) Betts of Okolona; one stepson, Sgt. Ahmed R. Walker (Kei) of Okonia, Japan; three sisters, Ethel (Willie D.) Moore of Houlka, Mattie Bean of Houlka and Ollie Wallace of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Betts and Hense (Leon) Spicer; one brother, Henry J. (Gloria) Betts of Okolona; four brothers-in-law, Harold Seals, Eddie Hill, Edgar Marion and Martin Hill; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby Betts; and two sisters, Mary Stanfield and Virginia Seals.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
