Alex Abjornson, 83, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 15, 2008. Born in Brooklyn , NY in 1924, he resided for 35 years in Sergeantsville, NJ prior to settling in Melbourne, FL six years ago.
Alex was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after faithfully serving his country during World War II and from the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1989 as a District Manager having been employed by Bellcore for over 40 years.
Alex was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sergeantsville, and he enjoyed most of all spending time with his family, cheering for the New York Giants, cruising and completing crossword puzzles.
Alex leaves behind his beloved wife Celeste ( Montgomery ) Abjornson with whom he joined hands in marriage on November 2, 1968, and his loving family, son Erik Abjornson and his wife Anita of Ijamsville, MD, daughter Celeste Manitta and husband James of Sergeantsville.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 beginning 11:00am at the Presbyterian Church of Flemington, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822 . Alex will be laid to rest at the Rosemont Cemetery located in Rosemont, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
