On March 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Pope, who preceded him in death on April 14, 1980. Mr. Blackstock was a retired Boatswain Mate for the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was of the Baptist belief.
Mr. Blackstock departed this life on January 30, 2008 at his residence at the age of 77 years, 16 days.
He is survived by his step-son, Kenneth Clyde Simmons Jr. of Tampa, Florida; 2 step-daughters, Linda Louise Hines of Tampa, Florida and Patsy Howerton of Eufaula, Alabama; two sisters, Alice Davis of Savannah, Tennessee and Jean Blackstock of Sardis, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Davis and Lorean Johnson and two brothers, Albert Blackstock and Joe Blackstock.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah. Interment will be in Milledgeville Cemetery.
