Frances E. Berman - SAVANNAH - Frances Effel Berman, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Bernard David Berman, died Friday afternoon, January 7, 2011, at Hospice Savannah. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Edward Effel and the late Sarah Zerman Effel. Mrs. Berman was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood. Mrs. Berman was a retired cosmetologist. Surviving are one son, Dr. Earl Berman and his wife, Goldie, of Hollywood, Florida; one daughter, Cindy Berman of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Blake Berman, Kelsey Berman, Meir Nemetsky and his wife, Perla, Shani Nemetsky, Yael Katz and her husband, Shmuli, Aliza Nemetsky and Akiva Nemetsky; one brother, Nathan Effel and his wife, Adele, of Atlanta, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
