Mr. Alford was a veteran of World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the local VFW. He was co-owner of Alford's Drywall Construction Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Zennie Alford; brothers, Loyd Alford and Robert Alford; and sister, Ruby Alford Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Elouise Alford; daughter, Linda Griffith; son, Jerry Alford; grandchildren, Sonya (Brent) Morgan, Phillip (Tracy) Griffith and Cody Alford; great-grandchildren, Andrea and Sara Griffith, Ashley, Garrett and Emily Morgan; brother, Arvil Alford; sisters, Lilly Pearl Kelly, Mary Alford and Jewell Alford.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Griffith, Cody Alford, Brent Morgan, Haskell Alford, Sharrell Alford, Roger Eubanks and Ralph Sims Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Morgan, Marvin Pearson, Bobby Jarrells and Buddy Sandlin.
Special thanks to Alacare Hospice, especially Teresa and Sonya for their tender and loving care of Mr. Alford.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
