DEATH OF TWO AT CROSSING BEING PROBED.

BUTLER AND HOLLAND CONTINUE INVESTIGATION OF FATAL CRASH AT OIL CITY.

Investigation into the death of D. M. Kennedy, Shreveport barber, and the Rev. J. M. Branden, Shreveport minister, who were killed at an Oil City grade crossing Sunday night when the car in which they were riding collided with a freight train, will be continued today, according to Dr. Willis P. Butler, parish coroner.

Doctor Butler who, with Deputy Sheriff Bert Stone, reached the scene of the accident shortly after it occurred, is conducted the investigation with the aid of Isadore Holland, Oil City justice of the peace. The inquiry started Sunday night at the crossing where the men were killed and where a third man, W. T. Beale, 2520 James street, son-in-law of the minister, was injured. He is reported to be resting well Monday in a local sanitarium.

Witnesses Questioned.
Five Oil City eye witnesses to the accident are being examined by Mr. Holland. Members of the train crew, Kansas City Southern extra No. 551, are being questioned by Doctor Butler as they report to his office. It will be perhaps several days, Doctor Butler said, before all the testimony is heard and a final report made.

Kennedy, the father of nine children, and Branden, the father of five, were killed outright when their car was struck by the train. Beale, while badly shocked, is not seriously injured. The accident occurred shortly after the three men got into Beale's car to drive to Shreveport after spending Sunday with friends and relatives at Oil City.

Funeral services for Mr. and Kennedy and Mr. Branden will be held today.

Funeral Services Today.
Services for the minister will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the family residence, 2801 Highland avenue, conducted by the Rev. R. F. Duckworth of Dallas. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Ferguson, Barney Kendrick, E. D. King, C. N. Tyre, M. D. Lightfoot and J. C. Jones.

Services for Mr. Kennedy will be held at 10 a. m. in the chapel of McCook Brothers Funeral home, conducted by Mrs. Bessie Dillingham, pastor of the local church of the Nazarene. Following the services the body will be sent to Arcadia for interment at Oak Grove, near there.

Beside the widow, the barber is survived by nine children, Opal, Martiel, Lois, Clifford, Harold, Frederick, Lamar and D. M. Kennedy, Jr.; three brothers, Willie, Eddie and George Kennedy and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Langley and Mrs. Letha Davis.
