The following is from the Research of my Aunt Judy Truitt's Mother, Mrs. Dorothy Kramer, Peoria County Clerk, Illinois Lifetime Member Genealogy Society and DAR Member, of over 50 years. Thanks to my Aunt and Uncle, Charles and Judy Truitt who have entrusted me as I continue researching our Truitt line.
From what I can find, Emily Jane Ridenour was married to a Lewis Hartsell, born about 1835 in Ohio. He died on January 29, 1889, Chillicothe, Illinois.
To Emily and Lewis were born: Henry A. Hartsell, Florence Lena Hartsell, and Edna M. Hartsell.
Another Truitt contributor wrote saying that Emily was previously married to a William M. Johnson on Sept 22nd 1867, Stewartsville, Missouri, and to them a daugher, Emma Johnson was born. However, from my family's over 50 plus years of research this transcript is what was printed record which includes where our direct line ties in with her marriage to William A. Truitt, in 1890, Galesburg, Illinois. I recently found a newspaper story, which states that their son, William "Bill" Albert Truitt was adopted as a baby, and raised by the Truitts.
