Mr. Owens died Wednesday, April 12, 1972, in a local nursing home. Born September 17, 1899 in Arkansas, he moved to Oklahoma in 1914, settling in Roland. He moved to Fort Gibson in 1925 and later to Cherokee County to Wagoner in 1939. He was a member of the Wagoner Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Griffin of Ellinwood, Kansas, Mrs. Anna Mae Crabtree of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Josephine Baldridge of Hulbert, Mrs. Louis Hellinger of Wagoner and Mrs. Norman Surratt of Linden, Texas; three sons, Edgar of Haskell, Carl of Wagoner and Charles of Adair; two brothers, Bert of Wagoner and Clifford of Okay; four sisters, Mrs. Essie Williams of Wagoner, Mrs. Nellie Hutchison of Riverside, California, Lillie Terrell of Gore and Mrs. Alta Thayer of Wagoner; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
