Funeral services for Jerry Kimbell Modisette, 76, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin with Reverend R.G. "Bud" Davis, Reverend Karl Smith, Reverend W.L. Bullard and Reverend Josh Reneau officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.

Mr. Modisette was born April 15, 1934 in the Allentown Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late Jane (Gillikin) and Alvin Modisette, and died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in a local hospital. Mr. Modisette was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a 1st Class Radio Operator. Mr. Modisette graduated from Pineywoods Business College with a Business Degree. His birth on April 15 destined him to be a tax preparer for 51 years. Mr. Modisette was a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years, teaching the Primary Class for the last 10. He served on the board of the First United Pentecostal Church and was the church secretary. Mr. Modisette was a member of the church choir and loved to sing and play the piano. He loved to spend his time planting flowers and feeding his birds.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Darlene Modisette of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Dennis Wilson of Hobbs, New Mexico and Kim and Randy Matthews of Lufkin; grandchildren, Dustin Matthews, Ashley Matthews, Nathan Matthews, all of Lufkin, Katie Wilson and Ray Wilson, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; sister, Margie Parrott of Allentown; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Martha Fay Modisette of Lufkin; father-in-law, Clifford Cates of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Lynn Clark and Patsy and Dennis Modisette, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Dean Parrott, Kenny Modisette, Ronnie Modisette, Eric Modisette, Jared Clark, David Clark, Joe Clark and Troy Christmas. Honorary pallbearers will be J.T. Hambrick, Clark Bynum, Justin Bullard, the men of First United Pentecostal Church and the children in the Primary Sunday school class.
