Fred L. "Jiggs" Eddy, 84, of Midway Street died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Eddy retired in 1981 from Cummins Engine Co., was owner of Eddy TV and Appliances in the 1950s and 1960s and was a former employee of Operation Life.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and Golden K Kiwanis Club. He also was a well-known bowler.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. H. Thomas Pitcher officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Bartholomew County Aug. 10, 1918, Mr. Eddy was the son of Grover and Sophie Hart Eddy. He married Hazel Faulkner in 1941 and Barbara Wells Henry Jan. 25, 1974, in Franklin.

He is survived by his first wife, of Columbus; a daughter, Linda Hoy of Naples, Fla.; sons, Fredric Eddy of Irving, Texas, Dennis Eddy of Franklin and Dana Eddy of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Shirley Smith of Greensburg; stepsons, Robert and Keith Douglas Henry, both of Columbus, and Larry Henry of Chesterton; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his second wife on May 22, 1998; and brothers, Paul, Gene and Edward Eddy.
