WANCHESE MERCHANT BURIED THURSDAY - Funeral services for John M. Cudworth, 51, of Wanchese who died Tuesday in a Norfolk, Va. hospital, were conducted Thursday at Wanchese Methodist Church by the Rev. C.W. Guthrie, pastor, assisted by the Rev. H.R. Ashemore, pastor of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in Manteo. Burial was in the Cudworth Cemetery.
Mr. Cudworth was a native and resident of Wanchese, Dare County, the son of Rebecca Creef and Llewellyn Cudworth, and husband of Mrs. Alma Etheridge Cudworth. He was a member of Wanchese Methodist Church and a merchant for the last 30 years.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons: John M. Cudworth, Jr. and William Cudworth, both of Norfolk; four daughters: Mrs. Arthur Gollobin of Elizabeth City, Mrs. David Farrow of Manteo, and Misses Inia and Ruth Cudworth of Wanchese; two brothers: George Cudworth of Norfolk and Vance Cudworth of Wanchese; four sisters: Mrs. Nettie Daniels, Mrs. Orville Midgett, Mrs. Lora Creef, all of Wanchese, and Mrs. Nannie Midgett of Manteo; and seven grandchildren.
The pallbearers were H.L. Davis, Dallas Tillett, J.W. Davis, W.W. Baum, M.L. Daniels, Jr. and L.V. Gaskill.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.W. Guthrie of Wanchese and Rev. H.R. Ashmore of Manteo. The floral offerings were many and the funeral had a large attendance.
