Florence W. (Byrne) Grimard, 92, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 24, 2010 with family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Roland Grimard and the late John Platek, Sr.
Born in Calais, ME on August 17, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Virtue (Nuel) Byrne.
She was the loving mother of John Platek, Jr. and his wife Anita of Bellingham, Mary Ann Sikora and her husband, Andrew of Northboro, MA, Linda Vienneau and Craig Belcher of Madison, NH, Dorothy Morin of Marlborough, MA, Beverly Craig and her husband Melvin of Bracey, VA, Brenda Smith-Platek of Rochester, NH, her two late daughters, Frances Southers and Cheryl Hawkins-Rivers. She also leaves her step-daughter Glenna Kingsbury and her husband Tony of Auburn, NH. She leaves her cherished 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great-grandchildren and her three late grandchildren Tina Louise Platek, Gwenn Rivers and John Arsenault.
In addition to raising her own children she also raised her four Hawkins grandchildren. Florence was the last of 11 children.
A resident of Bellingham formerly of Saxonville, MA and Derry, NH. She was a twister at Roxbury Carpet of Saxonville for 30 years until their closing. She was a member of the VFW and DAV and Past President of the Eagles, all of Manchester, NH. An avid bingo player, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a devoted Red Sox fan. Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 30, at 7:30PM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours are from 5 to 7:30PM prior to funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be in the family lot in New Hampshire in the spring.
