Mr. Arnel Kenneth "Ken" Smart, 71, of Nampa, died Friday, Sept. 9, 1988, at the Nampa hospital. Mr. Smart was born Dec.22, 1916, at Blackfoot to Lorenzo and Lucy W. Petersen Smart. At a small age he moved with his family to Southern California where he was reared and educated. He married Dolores Adams on June 25, 1938, in Los Angeles and later had their marriage solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on their 20th anniversary. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer. Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then returned to Southern California. He worked for Westwood Building Materials in Lawndale and retired in 1977 as warehouse foreman and moved to Nampa. He was a very active member of the LDS Church since 1952. He was also the past president and past wagon master of the Nampa Chapter of the Good Sam Club.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Smart of Nampa; three sons, Raymond Smart of Nampa, Arnell Smart of Northridge, Calif., and Wesley Smart of Bellflower, Calif.; five brothers, A.N. Smart of Menden, Utah, Cecil Smart of Culver City, Calif., Louis Smart of Buena Park, Calif., Ren and Forrey Smart, both of Nampa; two sisters Bonnie Gollner of Palmdale, Calif., and Elaine Anderson of Lewistown, Mont.; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
