Charles J. Brandmeyer, 55, of Germantown died Sunday May 25 at John Cochran Veteran's Hospital in St. Louis
He was born April 9 1948 in Highland to Anthony and Viola (Zurliene) Brandmeyer. His father preceded him in death, his mother survives in Damiansville.

He married Anita Ratermann August 31, 1973 in St. Dominic Church Breese and she survives at Germantown.

He is also survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters. Jason, Jeffrey, Julie and Jeana Lyn Brandmeyer all of Germantown.

Also surviving are brothers Richard (Lois) Brandmeyer of Aviston, Robert Brandmeyer, Greg (Barbara) Brandmeyer and Karl (Anna) Brandmeyer all of Damiansville, Mark (Cindy) Brandmeyer of New Baden and Matthew (Laurie) Brandmeyer of Bartelso, sisters: Natalie Schmitt of New Baden, Gloria (Dathan) Santel of Summerfield and Teresa Brandmeyer of Greenville, mother-in- law Virginia Ratermann of Breese.

Charles graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1968, and then entered in the US Marine Corps from 1968 until 1972, serving 18.5 months in Vietnam as a radio corpsman. He was awarded the National defense Service medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Cross-of Gallantry, and the Good Conduct medal. After service he worked for the CSX Railroad, then for Southern Illinois Pullet Sales, then Home Nursery and for the last 7 years has been a carpenter for DCA Construction of Breese.

He was a member of St. Boniface Church Germantown, Albers American Legion Post 1026, and for 15 years served as CO-leader of the Clovers and Cloveretts 4-H club. Charles was an avid out doors man, enjoying hunting and fishing. He developed and collected an extensive collection of Indian artifacts.

He was preceded in death by his dad, a sister Joanne Hempen and father-in-law Arnold Ratermann

Funeral Services will be held Friday May 30 2003 at 11 AM at St. Boniface Church Germantown with Fr. Steven Humphrey officiating interment will be Monday June 2 2003 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery St. Louis with full military honor accorded by the Albers American Legion.
