Palmyra: Gladys C. Preble 78 went to be with the Lord following a long illness on Jan. 3, 2006 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born in Princeton, Me July 9, 1927 the daughter of Fred E. and Cora L. (Fitch) Corbett. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. He hobby was raising and working with many beautiful houseplants.

She was predeceased by her husband Elwin "Slim" Preble, a special daughter Betty Cole, a son Elwin Preble Jr., and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons and their wives Marvin and Diane Preble of Lamoine, Terrance and Donna Preble of Pittsfield, two daughters Delores Badejo of Newport, Maria Preble and her partner Pamela McCue of Old Town, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Gladys spent her last few months coping with emphysema and blindness and these months were made much easier by the comfort of knowing she would soon be with the Lord and that she was constantly surrounded by the care and love of her daughter Delores and the members of her church who surrounded her with love.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted in the spring at Highland Cemetery Carmel. (Brown Funeral Home on-line)
