Jacob Metzger expires on the public road
Jacob Metzger one of the best-known farmers in this county died suddenly on the road from Bodines & his home. He was in good health yesterday when he started from his home to go to Bodines for the purpose of getting a lady to act as his housekeeper. He became ill & threw his hands up & died. The cause was heart disease.
He was 75 years old & leaves a family of 7 children: Abraham, John, Louis & Joseph all of Salladasburg, Mrs. Fred Ulmer of this city, Mrs. Barbara Heyler of Liberty & Mrs. George Schautz of Lorain Ohio.
He leaves the following brothers & sisters: Abraham & John Metzger, Mrs. John Hadtner, Mrs. Jacob Flock, Mrs. Jacob Trump of this city, Mrs. Ast of Maquoketa Iowa & Mrs. Gunther of Davenport Iowa.
