Death Claims Provoan, 66
Leonard Newell Judkins, 66, 4489 N. 2100 W., Provo, died Wednesday afternoon in the Salt Lake LDS Hospital following surgery. He was born Feb 18, 1903 in North Ogden, a son of Eugene B. Mercy Miranda Campbell Judkins. He married Cleone Beus on Aug, 21, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Judkins was a building contractor in the Provo-Orem Area.
Active in the LDS Church he was serving as a high priest in the Provo 17th LDS Ward at the time of his death. He had served as a bishop for a time in the Ephraim South Ward, and had also served a two-year mission to South Africa. He had been stake mission president in the West Sharon Stake for several years, and also as a stake missionary. For 22 years Mr. Judkins was a seminary teacher at Rigby and Burley, Ida., and also at Ephraim.
Survivors include his widow of Provo; five sons, Newell Judkins, serving in the Armed Forces in Vietnam; Dwain Judkins, Provo; Carlton Judkins, Moses Lake, Wash.; Carlos Judkins, Houston, Tex., and James Leonard Judkins, Salt Lake City; 27 grandchildren and two brother and two sisters, Hyrum Judkins and Mrs. Rachel Campbell, both of North Ogden, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Van Ness, California, and Clyde Judkins, Carlin, Nev.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Provo 17th LDS Ward Chapel, 1350 W. 1550 N., Provo. Bishop Paul Penrod, Provo 17th LDS Ward officiating.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sundberg Olpln Mortuary in Orem and Saturday at the ward chapel prior to the servies. Burial will be in the North Ogden Cemetery at 3 p.m
