COUNTY PIONEER PASSES AWAY AT DAUGHTER'S HOME
Henry Allan Doty, Descendant of Mayflower Passenger, Dies--Relative of Territorial Governor
Henry Allan Doty, 80, passed away Sunday morning at 3:10 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Rennert, 38 Oxford Street.
His ancestor, Edward Doty, came over to America in the Mayflower.
James Duane Doty, first territorial Governor of Wisconsin and later governor of the state of Utah, was a cousin of his grandfather.
Henry Allan Doty was born on the Ashby farm about four miles east of Winneconne in the Town of Vinland and passed his 80th birthday on Jan. 22. He passed away after having been in failing health for a year as a result of the infirmities of old age.
MARRIES IN 1875
Mr. Doty was married to Evalyn B. Hughes of the Town of Vinland, Dec. 9, 1875. She passed away in 1890, and he remarried, weeding Mrs. Ellen Darling of Oshkosh, who preceded him in death last September.
Mr. Doty spent most of his life on a farm, moving to Oshkosh in 1924.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Della Doty and Mrs. Orra MacGregor, both of Chicago; Celia Doty, Town of Vinland; Mrs. Mabel Rennert and Mrs. Maude Harper, both of Oshkosh; a stepson, Edward Darling, of Oshkosh; one sister, Mrs. Marietta Durkee, living in the Town of Winneconne; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Spike & McDonald Funeral Home, court and Otter Streets, with a burial at Plummer's Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the funeral home from Tuesday afternoon to the time of the services.
