Dorothy Hall, 87, our Mother and Granny, left "the battlefield for the banquet", Wednesday morning, January 5, 2011, after fighting pneumonia and respiratory problems for almost 6 weeks.

Dorothy was born to C.A. and Rosa Buchanan on September 8, 1923, in Cleburne, TX. She attended Abilene Christian College and North Texas State College before she met Tip Hall, Jr. They married July 31, 1943, in Denton.

The following year she began her lifelong career—mother of two daughters, Sue and Bill Allen of Denton, and Jan Hall of Ponder; four sons, Bill and Cindy Hall, Jack and Cindy Hall, Kent and Penny Hall, all of Ponder; Chuck and Lynn Hall of Saint Jo, and Granny to 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mother told people she never worked, but raising 6 kids on a dairy farm while being the wife of a school teacher, preacher, and state representative was indeed work. After Tip's death in 1999, we all realized what a force there was behind that man throughout all those years.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, TX. Services will be 10 am, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Lake Dallas Church of Christ with Andy Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: High Plains Childrens' Home, 11461 S. Western, Amarillo, TX. 79118 or Camp Blue Haven (Christian Youth Camp), c/o Lake Dallas Church of Christ, 504 Carlisle Dr. Lake Dallas, TX. 75065

The family expresses their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, and especially to American Hospice and the Senior Care Center on Brinker.

"Always Loving, Always Loved."
