Fred Hamilton Boyd Jr., 67, of Morgan, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2011. Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 8, in the Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home.
Fred was born in Olney, Texas, to the late Fred Hamilton Boyd, Sr. and Lily Lalone Boyd. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1961 and attended Tarleton State University. On March 8, 1963, he married Mary Susan "Susie" Boyd, in Laguna Park. He belonged to the Kopperl Masonic Lodge #292 and Scottish Rite, Fort Worth. He was also a member of the Lakeside Village Volunteer Fire Department and a former assistant chief. He was a member of the Kopperl United Methodist Church. He enjoyed rock crawling in his Jeep Scrambler with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Boyd, of Morgan; son, Kirk Boyd, of Lakeside Village; daughters, Susan Harris and husband, George, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Kristy Boyd, of Waco; grandchildren, Katrina Shmidl, USAF, of San Antonio, and Forrest Shmidl, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, William O. Boyd and wife, Linda, of Kilgore; sister, Lynda Pearson, of Weatherford; and many other loving family members and friends.
