Served with Co.H 16th U.S. Inf. (Regular Army) from March 1862 until June 1870 (He reinlisted in 1866) He served with his Regiment during the Civil War of 1861-65.
After his military service was done he came out west to Washington state working for the Rail Way and by 1895 was living near Castle Rock. He Retired from the Rail way in 1915. He died on Jan. 6th 1919 of the Spanish Flu during the Great Epidemic of 1918-19. He was buried with full military honors by The GAR C.S. Hamilton Post No. 113 (From Powell WA.) in the Cowlitz County Cemetery.
