Carrie Carnes Bailey, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died on May 17, 2010 at the age of 91 in Hendersonville, Tennessee after a short illness from pneumonia. She lived a long and wonderful life with her family in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and was a long-time member of Glenwood Baptist Church. She was born on February 21, 1919 in Wallins Creek, Kentucky. Carrie graduated from St. Elizabeth�s Hospital in Covington, Kentucky in 1944 as a Registered Nurse. In 1946 she moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where she worked as an RN in the nursery at the original Oak Ridge Hospital. In Oak Ridge she met her husband, James Madison Bailey Sr. and they remained married until his death in 1972. She retired from Oak Ridge Hospital in 1983 after working as a med-surg nurse. Carrie enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting friends, and gardening. She will be missed very much by her family who remembers her as a strong, loving, and kind woman who cherished her family. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Eliza Carnes, sisters Daisy, Molly, Paulene and brother Virgil. She was also preceded in death by her son Gary Michael Bailey. Survived by her daughter Deborah (Bruce) Sims of Hendersonville, TN. And her son James Madison Bailey Jr. (Tracy) of Tuscaloosa, AL and daughter in law, Rosemary Rachel of Fayetteville, AR. Also survived by grandchildren Robert Blair (Erin) Sims, Jonathan Sims, Joe Gray Bailey, Elizabeth Bailey, Madison and Graham Bailey. And one great granddaughter, Emilyann Grace Sims. And several nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held Thursday May 20 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park at Two o�clock PM with Reverend Rebecca Milligan officiating.
