HARRY MATTINGLY DIES SUDDENLY - SON OF MRS. G. MATTINGLY, OF SAMUELS - FUNERAL MONDAY MORNING - Harry L. Mattingly, 61 years old, one of the best known citizens of Owensboro, died suddenly of heart failure at his home, 316 West Fifth Street, at 7 o'clock Saturday night. Mr. Mattingly had been in ill health for several years, but his demise came unexpectedly. He was down in the business section of the city shortly before the evening hour and seemed bright to the many people whom he met and talked with. For thirty years, Mr. Mattingly was a distiller for the Mattingly Distilling Company, and when the manufacture of whiskey was halted, he immediately engaged in the coal business, purchasing with Logan Meredith, the T. M. Barrow Coal Company. He had been quite successful in this business since taking it up. Surviving are the widow and one daughter, of Owensboro, and mother, Mrs. Gertrude Mattingly, of Samuels, and five brothers and four sisters. He had been long a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, from where the funeral was held Monday morning. -- Owensboro Messenger.
Mr. Ben Mattingly and Mr. Joe Byron Hayden, of Samuels, attended the funeral of Mr. Mattingly Monday.
