Larry Elvin CARBERRY of Rowley, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 5, 2006, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence after a long courageous battle with cancer. Celebration of Life service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Rowley Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at the church. There will be no visitation.
Larry was born May 22, 1937, in Franklin County, Iowa, to Elvin and Bernice (Dohlman) Carberry.
He spent his entire life working as a computer programmer and analyst. He was an avid reader and enjoyed photography and genealogy research until his health declined.
He was a loving and supportive husband and father who will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, to whom he was married on Oct. 14, 1956; their four children, Brian Carberry of Miami, Fla., Brad Carberry (Susan Winklemann) of Minneapolis, Tracy Trevethan (Neil) of Chaska, Minn., and Bruce Carberry (Melissa) of Plymouth, Minn.; three grandchildren, Nicholas Trevethan, Mitchell Trevethan and Alayna Carberry; two sisters, Boni Fulgham and Linda Roundy of Dahlonega, Ga.; a brother, Douglas Carberry of Divine, Texas; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In recent years Larry, a.k.a. "Old Surehand," became a member of the Turkey Foot Cowboys, a local Single Action Shooting Society that is an international organization created to preserve and promote a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Larry's name to Cedar Valley Hospice, 801 First St. E, Independence, IA 50644.
