Osage – Mrs. Ansel T. Brookins, 60, wife of Former State Senator A. T. Brookins, died Friday at Oakdale Sanitarium, having been in ill health about four years. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m., at First Congregational Church, Osage with burial in the Osage Cemetery.

She was born December 27, 1886, on a farm near Orchard, daughter of the late Sumner M. and Kate C. (Hoisington) Dodge. She spent her girlhood there and took special music work at Cedar Valley seminary and taught piano for a number of years. In 1907 she was married to Ansel T. Brookins, and the couple made their first home at Floyd, where Mr. Brookins was principal of the Floyd schools. They lived at Defiance, Ia., then moved to the old Brookins homestead near Ionia, then, at Charles City, and Bassett, coming to Osage, in 1931, where they have since resided.

She was a member of the Iowa Womens Legislature League, Eastern Star; and Eastern Star Kensington.

She leaves her husband, two sons, Paul, Chicago; and John, recently discharged and now at home; a sister, Merle Dodge Smith, Osage; and three brothers; John Dodge, Orchard; Ray, Minneapolis; and Howard, Mason City; parents and a brother, Irving, preceded her in death.
