Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late John Silas and Ida Crenshaw Ellenburg. Mrs. Ivester retired from the dental offices of Dr. M.T. Edwards, where she worked as a Dental Assistant. After her retirement, she assisted her daughter in her catering business at Key West Connection. Mrs. Ivester attended St. John United Methodist Church.
She had a servant's heart and spent her life doing deeds of kindness for so many people, never desiring recognition or thanks. She exemplified unconditional love for all who knew her, especially her family.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pendleton Manor and Lutheran Hospice for the love and care they provided.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary F. Brock (Terry) of Greenville, Nancy Ally (David) of Waxhaw, NC, Laura Rasberry (George) of Piedmont, and Sandy Martin of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Moore, Buffy Parks, Abby Spivey, Isaac Ally, Charlie Rasberry, Evan Ivester, and Brandon Mathis; eight great grandchildren; a sister Esther Murphree of Pickens; and a brother, B.P. Ellenburg of Easley.
Mrs. Ivester was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jake C. Ivester; a grandchild, Nicholas Rasberry; three sisters, Lyda Underwood, Grace Galbreath, and Jaynie Redmond; and five brothers, Bowman, Leon, Cote, John, and Doyle Ellenburg.
The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 12p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home downtown chapel. Visitation will be prior from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
