PRATT PIONEER LADY DIES
...Mrs. C.J. Sandburg, a pioneer of Pratt, died here Wednesday morning following a long illness. She was 84 years of age.
...Mrs. Sandburg was born in Sweden and came to America while but 19 years of age. She was married to Charley Sandburg in 1885. She is Survived by her aged and ill husband, one son, Robert Sandburg of this city, four daughtersm Mrs. Robt. McKim of Pratt, Mrs. R.L. Giles also of Pratt, Mrs. J.W. Staples of Plains and Mrs. R.H. Pride of Sawyer.
...She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Her grandsons have figured strongly in the world war and her heart has always been with those boys she loved so well.
...Eight grandsons are in the armed service, one of them having given the supreme sacrifice for his county.
...Mrs. Sandburg became a Christian 48 years ago and joined the local Presbyterian church. she had been a regular attendant and worshiper there until her health failed her.
...One granddaughter, whose mother died while she was a baby, made her home with her grandparents until her marriage.
...They came to Pratt in 1895 and have lived here ever since that time. Sturdy citizens, she and her husband lived quietly surrounded by loved ones and many warm friends.
...Thus ends the life of one of Pratt's most conscientious and sincere citizens whose life and devotion has caused all who know her, to adore and esteem her highly.
...Her husband is quite ill at this time. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Dr. B.F. Henry. The Sappington-Calbeck mortuary with Ora Brownell in charge of funeral arrangements.
