George Miller left Pennsylvania to come to Indiana in the mid-1870's. He settled somewhere near Nappanee in Elkhart County, where his brother Jeremiah was living. At his marriage to Martha Jane Reed in 1884, he was 20 years of age and a farmer in Jefferson Township, Kosciusko County, IN. The marriage record shows he was born in Fayette County, PA. and his parents were John Miller and Lydia Barrow.

After Martha Jane's death in 1886, George moved to Garrett, in DeKalb County, IN. The 1900 census for Keyser Township, DeKalb County, indicates he had been married to 2nd wife, Caroline (nee Ginther) Bushong-Miller for 11 years. It also indicates that five of her six children were living. Listed with them in the household were Vern, age 20; Frank, age 20; Myrtle, age 15; Harry, age 12; and Charles, age 10. Vern, Frank & Myrtle are children from Caroline's first marriage to James William Bushong. Harry and Charles are George and Caroline's sons. When Caroline died in 1914, the couple was living in Altona in DeKalb County, IN. The 1920 census shows George living with third wife, Addie (nee Abrams) Holmes-Miller in Garrett, IN. Addie died in December 1928, at their residence. The 1930 census for Garrett, Keyser Township, DeKalb County, shows George, age 65, as owner of his residence valued at $3,500. He is listed as a widower and his occupation is listed as "none." Living with him in the household is son, Charles, age 41 and single. George married his 4th wife, Jennie Adalena (nee Counsellor) Bishop in on 03 October 1935, but they divorced within 12-18 months after the marriage.

His death certificate indicates that the principal cause of death was "diabetis swelitus" and that the duration was 12 years. The death certificate also indicates that he joined the B & O Railroad in 1890. Census records indicate he was still employed by the railroad through the 1920 recording.

George is buried next to his third wife, Addie, in an unmarked grave.
