He farmed in Worth County and Taylor County most of his lifetime. He worked as a grave digger in this area for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing during his leisure time.
B. was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma, in 1996; one infant son, Dwayne Leroy; parents; five brothers, Herbert, Edgar, Kenneth and Albert; and two sisters, Jessie Norton, and Violet Woods.
Survivors include three sons, Dean and wife Mary Ann of Lenox; Melvin and wife Cathy of Davenport, Iowa; and Gary and wife Sue of Arvada, Colo.; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Key of Blockton and Madelyn Loghry of Osceola, Iowa, and 18 nieces and nephews. B. will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were Jan. 8 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, MO. Rev. Ward Campbell officiated. Interment was in Athelstan Cemetery, Taylor County, Iowa.
