Abram N. Barley, 96, formerly of Lancaster, died Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Luther Acres, Lititz, after an illness of four months. He was the husband of Nellie H. Graybill Barley, also a guest at Luther Acres. Barley lived in Lancaster all his life and he operated a grocery store on the corner of Franklin and Hamilton streets, until his retirement in 1953. He was a member and former vestryman of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He also belonged to Knights of Malta. Born in Manor Twp., he was a son of the late Martin and Elizabeth Neff Barley. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Clarence M. Barley, Ruth B., wife of Richard M. Shissler, and Ralph M. Barley, all of Lancaster; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and two brothers, Edgar N., Mountville, and Paul N., Millersville R1. (Lancaster New Era - Dec 5, 1973)
