The funeral for Viola M. Wood, a North Portland resident, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Johns Free Methodist Church. Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Wood died of complications arising from Alzheimer's disease Thursday in a Portland care center. She was 89.
She was born May 20, 1901, in Buell, but was raised and educated in Falls City. She married Wesley Wood on June 8, 1923, in Newberg. She had lived in Portland since her marriage.
Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and had worked as a part-time postal clerk. She was a member of St. Johns Free Methodist Church.
Survivors besides her husband include her sons, Wayne of Seaside and Eugene of Portland; sister, Lavilla Woodard of Cottage Grove; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association.
