The following obituary was published in the Herald Coaster on Monday, Dec. 14, 1998:

"J. A. Abendroth"

Funeral services for J. A. "Jack" Abendroth, 69, of Needville will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the Garmany & Carden Chapel, 3103 School Street in Needville. Burial will be in Needville Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Needville.

Mr. Abendroth died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998 at Rosenberg Health and Rehab Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1929 in Needville, the son of Julius Benny Abendroth and Rosa Lee Reeves Abendroth. He worked in the oil refinery business.

He is survived by his daughters; Donna Guidry of Beaumont and Sandra Zwahr of Boling, grandchildren: Kenneth Groze, Mazie Perez, Adam Simms and Amanda Simms, all of Katy; Brandon Zwahr and Christopher Zwahr, both of Needville; sister; Betty Rose Head of Sealy; and several nieces.
