KENNEBUNKPORT — Carlisle E. "Carl" Davis, 85, formerly of Kennebunkport, died Feb. 9, 2007, at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, Fla.
He was born in Jonesport on Sept. 7, 1921, the son of Daniel R. and Elnora (Alley) Davis.
Carl graduated from grammar school in Jonesport, where he worked as a laborer.
During World War II, Carl answered his country's call and served in the US Army in the European Theater of Operations.
After his discharge from the Army, Carl returned to Maine and moved to Kennebunkport, and went to work as a lobsterman. He then worked for Fred Eaton in lobster sales. Always interested in law enforcement, he completed criminal justice school and was a patrolman for the Kennebunkport Police Department for 13 years. He then answered a higher calling and enrolled in divinity training. Upon graduation, he was ordained a Protestant Minister. For many years, he assisted at Mount Zion Church, Wells.
Carl was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 159, Kennebunkport. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and RV'ing.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Elnora Althea Davis; his brother Ralph and his wife Velma, and his brother-in-law, Lester Beal.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Lois A. Davis; daughter, Lois F. Goldstein and her husband Bud; sisters, Martha Beal and Ethelyn Alley.
Burial with military honors will follow at Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
