COURTADE (Kent City) - Edwin Charles Courtade, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, with his family by his side. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was with the U.S. Postal Service for 50 years and was a lifelong member and board member of the Michigan United Conservation Club and a lifelong member of the Ravenna Conservation Club. He was also a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Conklin. Edwin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa; daughters, Cynthia Courtade, Luann and Ted Shepardson, Janet and Tim Menzie; sons, Gordon and Lori Courtade, Gregory and Annette Courtade, Ronald Courtade; seven grandchildren, Ryan Asmus, Adam and Kaily Courtade, Sophia Shepardson, Oliver Shepardson, Jullian Courtade, Zachary Courtade, Madeline Menzie; one great granddaughter, Khloe Courtade; sister, Jean Marie and Elery Bonter; several nieces and nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at St. Francis Xavier Church in Conklin, on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Phil Shangraw Celebrant. Inurnment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. where a Prayer Vigil Service will be prayed at 8 p.m. Mr. Courtade will lie in state on Monday one hour prior to service at the church.
