Gerald J. Hollander, deputy chief of police of St. Peters, died Thursday (March 12, 1998) at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles after a long illness. He was 58 and lived in St. Charles.
Mr. Hollander joined the St. Peters Police Department as a major in 1976. Shortly after that, he was appointed assistant chief of police; the title was changed to deputy chief of police.
Earlier, he worked for six years for the St. Charles Police Department, reaching the rank of sergeant.
He was chairman of the St. Charles County E911 Advisory Board and served as the first president of the Missouri chapter of the National Emergency Number Association. He also was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
