He was a son of Heye Hinrichs and Agthe Westermann Lüdemann. He married Gesina Margaretha Hinrichs Seggermann 2 August 1857 in Strackholt, Ostfriesland.

According to family stories, but with no proof at all to offer, Heinrich died when he was struck by lightning.

He was buried on 6 June 1868 in Walnut Grove, according to the records at St Peter Lutheran church near Benson, Illinois.
