Florence Howell Chittum, 93, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 23, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, Luther O.Chittum.

She was a charter member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Janette C. Markham of Vinton, Cynthia and Kenneth Hankins of Bedford; two granddaughters, Kathie and husband, Jimmy Moorman of Goodview, Judy Hankins of Bedford; a sister, Virgie P. Leonard of Vinton; sisters-in-law, Geneva C. Howell, Alice B. Howell, Naomi C. Muse, all of Vinton; numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Dr. Richard Newton and his staff and Alice McNeal, caregiver.

Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2000 with Rev. Andy Rice, Rev. Bobby Harris and Rev. Burrell Baker officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 11 a.m. Thursday.
