John A. Hermsen, a retired union business representative, died of lung cancer Friday in his North Portland home. He was 66.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Skyline Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hermsen was born March 24, 1924, in Tacoma, where he attended Tacoma High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in an air wing in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Beverly Spanki on June 30, 1948, in Tacoma. In 1984, he retired as business representative of Local 24 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Survivors besides his wife include his daughter, Lesal Hermsen of Portland; and sister, Margie Sorensen of Tacoma.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Oregon Division of the American Cancer Society.
